Papers of Benjamin Strong

Description:
Benjamin Strong, Jr. was elected first governor (president) of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in 1914, a position which he held until his death in 1928. This collection provides material about the early years of the Federal Reserve System and Strong’s leading role in monetary and fiscal systems, both in the United States and internationally.

The documents digitized for FRASER represent the Strong papers held at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York; except for those with copyright restrictions.

The papers are largely correspondence organized into a numbering system (created by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York) that divides the material by the agency or individual in correspondence with Benjamin Strong. This system has been replicated in FRASER where possible.
