Description:
In 1956, William McChesney Martin Jr. (1906-1998) was renominated for a full 14 year term by President Dwight Eisenhower. He retired as Chairman of the Board in February 1, 1970. When more office space was needed for the Board of Governors staff, the new building, completed in 1974, was dedicated to Martin.
